The North American B‑45A Tornado was the U.S. Air Force's first operational four‑engine jet bomber. Introduced in the late 1940s, the Tornado replaced piston‑engine bombers with a new era of jet‑powered speed and range. Though quickly eclipsed by the more advanced B‑47 Stratojet, the B‑45 played a pivotal role in bridging World War II designs with Cold War technology. Its legacy endures as a landmark in America's leap into the jet age.
